Junior Product and Systems Builder

We are looking for a hands-on, technically curious, high-agency Junior Product and Systems Builder to join the team. This role blends rapid software development, internal tool creation, and practical data analysis. You will work closely with the COO and alongside our lead developer to turn business needs into working software and actionable insights on the go.

You will not be responsible for long-term architecture or production-grade system design. Instead, you will focus on rapid implementation, experimentation, internal tooling, and extracting insight from our data. You will use AI tools as a core part of how you work, accelerating development and helping deliver functional tools fast.

You should be excited about building small apps, creating dashboards, querying databases, and turning messy operational questions into clean, usable systems. This role is practical, fast-moving, and entrepreneurial.

·      Build lightweight internal software tools and admin pages to improve workflows

·      Rapidly prototype new feature ideas before formal development

·      Use AI tools to accelerate coding and implementation

·      Spin up functional MVPs in 1–2 days to test concepts

·      Work with database operations to extract and analyse operational and financial data

·      Translate business questions into clear metrics and dashboards (e.g. lease renewal rates, occupancy metrics, performance indicators)

·      Build recurring reports and automated data views

·      Create simple frontends connected to backend data

·      Improve small inefficiencies across the business through software solutions

·      Validate data accuracy and ensure insights are reliable

·      Think through how operational processes map into structured systems

·      Iterate quickly (build, test, refine)

·      Work independently and proactively, take initiative, suggest ideas, make things happen

·      Good understanding of software development concepts (APIs, databases, front-end/back-end structure)

·      Ability to build simple functional tools (web pages, scripts, small apps)

·      High level of comfort using AI tools to accelerate development

·      Understanding of relational databases and ability to write or validate SQL queries

·      Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability

·      Detail-oriented, especially when working with data

·      Highly self-driven and comfortable working with little instruction

·      Ability to manage multiple small builds and tasks simultaneously

·      Cape Town–based, in-office (off Kloof Street, Gardens)

Nice to have:

·      Experience building small apps or personal side projects

·      Experience with Python, JavaScript, or similar

·      Experience building dashboards

·      Exposure to analytics or business intelligence
